Hybrid vehicle applications
Elithion BMS in development HEVs

Managing a traction pack in a Hybrid vehicle (HEV) presents a unique set of challenges: while the method of SOC calculation in an EV is relatively straight forward, in an HEV it is not so, because the traction pack is never fully charged or discharged, therefore never allowing proper calibration of the SOC integral.

For the same reason, balancing must be done at mid SOC levels, which on a Li-Ion pack is particularly challenging, given the flat voltage curve of Li-Ion cells in that region.

Over the years, Elithion has developed a significant experience in the HEV traction pack field, and has developed elegant HEV algorithms and solutions.

Given the level of pollution generated by the typical ICE heavy vehicle, hybridization of such vehicles has the potential of resulting in a major reduction in emissions.

The Lithiumate BMS has been selected for such HEVs dues to its ability to properly handle their SOC calculation, and because how easily such an off-the-shelf BMS can be configured for a particular vehicle.
